Report of armed man in Hollywood prompts LAPD response, but no threat is found
Police responded to reports of an armed man in Hollywood on Friday morning, but after a couple hours of searching they found no threat, authorities said.
Reports of an armed man in the area of El Centro and Selma avenues were received about 10:40 a.m., and some believed there was an active shooter in the area. Some Twitter users said they were locked down inside a nearby L.A. Fitness.
But there was no evidence of any kind of a shooting, police said.
“We searched the entire area,” said Officer Jeff Lee, a spokesman for the LAPD. “There was no one with any kind of weapon.”
