Authorities searching for attackers in 91 Freeway shooting
Authorities are looking for a silver SUV that may have picked up two men who shot up another car on the 91 Freeway on Thursday night.
The violence began about 8:45 p.m. on the westbound lanes near Bellflower Boulevard as a confrontation broke out between the occupants of a Honda Accord and a 2013 Chrysler sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Honda smashed into the center wall of the freeway and the other vehicle ran into the right shoulder wall. Two males got of the Honda and at least one of them opened fire on the two people inside the Chrysler, CHP Capt. Daniel Minor told reporters.
The Chrysler’s driver was hit three times and the passenger at least once, Minor said.
The two attackers fled on foot and apparently were scooped up by occupants in a silver SUV, witnesses told officers.
The CHP declared a SigAlert on the westbound freeway shortly before 9 p.m. as officers shut down lanes while investigators gathered evidence.
The two victims were taken to a hospital. One was in critical condition and the other was hit in the elbow, according to the CHP.
