Former Los Angeles news anchor Bree Walker said she is “taking strong action” after being arrested in Anaheim this week on suspicion of drunk driving.

Walker, 61, was stopped at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Ball Road, said Anaheim Lt. Tim Schmidt. She was booked and released.

“Thnx 4 all the support from so many of you who’ve written and called. I’m taking strong action and getting help in battling my disease,” Walker wrote on Twitter Thursday.

Walker was a respected fixture on L.A. television and worked at KCBS-TV Channel 2 in the 1980s and ‘90s.

Anaheim police told the Orange County Register that Walker could not produce a driver’s license and looked “disheveled.” There was a pit bull in her car, and the dog was handed over to animal control officers, officials added.

She was once married to co-anchor Jim Lampley.

Walker had disabled hands and became a high-profile advocate for her condition, known as ectrodactyly.
