Sheriff’s deputies shoot and kill man armed with a shotgun
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies fatally shot a man armed with a shotgun during a confrontation early Saturday in East Los Angeles, authorities said.
Deputies were responding to a call of a gunshot victim about 1:20 a.m. at a residence in the 900 block of La Verne Avenue when the shooting occurred, the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
When deputies arrived, they entered the residence to investigate and encountered a man with a shotgun, authorities said. Two deputies fired their weapons and struck the suspect.
The unidentified man was transported to a local hospital, where he later died, authorities said.
The deputies involved in the incident were not injured. A shotgun was recovered at the scene, authorities said.
The investigation is continuing.
