Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes near Borrego Springs

A shallow, magnitude-3.3 earthquake was reported Monday morning eight miles from Borrego Springs in northeast San Diego County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 10:32 a.m. PST at a depth of 5.6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 18 miles from La Quinta, 22 miles from Coachella, 22 miles from Palm Desert and 246 miles from Phoenix.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
