Investigators say three men have been linked to burglaries at 31 El Pollo Loco restaurants across Southern California in a scheme that nabbed up to $225,000 in stolen cash during the last three months.

Kevin Henry, Travis Laguisan and Jason M. Henry were arrested Wednesday after two of the men broke into an El Pollo Loco in Stanton and stole an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s detectives watched Kevin Henry, 32, and Laguisan, 41, smash the glass of the restaurant’s side door, authorities said. Laguisan remained outside of the Beach Boulevard restaurant while Kevin Henry walked in to pilfer cash, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Afterward, the men ran to their car and were arrested in the 13300 block of Beach Boulevard by sheriff’s investigators and Garden Grove police officers.

About 5:30 a.m., sheriff’s detectives had seen the duo canvass another El Pollo Loco in Westminster, according to a statement released by the department. The two drove to the Stanton location where they were arrested after a maintenance worker showed up at the parking lot, the statement said.

Jason M. Henry, 34, was arrested after investigators went to a Westminster home and found additional evidence linking him to the burglaries, the department said.

Investigators alleged that the trio broke into El Pollo Loco restaurants late at night or early in the morning and chose locations in Ventura, San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside and Los Angeles counties.

The three are also suspected of burglarizing two fast-food restaurants in L.A. County earlier Wednesday morning.
