Intruders at large after back-to-back home-invasion robberies
Authorities are investigating a pair of home-invasion robberies in Lancaster late Saturday that are believed to have been committed by the same two-man team.
Two armed men, wearing white ski masks, kicked in the front door of a residence in the 5700 block of Spice Street at about 11:25 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The men were yelling “sheriff’s department, get on the ground” when they entered the home, according to one sheriff’s official.
They forced their way into the master bedroom, where the occupant of the house -- a retired sheriff’s deputy -- grabbed a gun and fired two shots at the intruders, who fled unhurt from the scene, authorities said. Deputies searched the neighborhood but the men remain at large.
The two are also believed responsible for a home invasion robbery at about 10 p.m. in the 3600 block of West Avenue K-15 in Lancaster, authorities said.
