Man thrown from motorcycle on 405 Freeway, is killed by truck
A 32-year-old man who was somehow thrown from his motorcycle Tuesday on the 405 Freeway and died was identified Wednesday as Mark Shapiro of Van Nuys.
Lt. Larry Dietz of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Shapiro was pronounced dead at 2:48 p.m. Tuesday.
Shapiro was southbound on the 405 Freeway north of Burbank Boulevard with a tractor-trailer in the left lane next to him when, at about 2:35 p.m., he was thrown from the motorcycle and was struck by the tires of the big rig, said California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Cassidy.
Shapiro died of his injuries on the roadway, Cassidy added.
