A Metropolitan State Hospital police officer pleaded no contest Friday to engaging in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
Mario Uribe Estrada, 41, pleaded no contest in Los Angeles County Superior Court to two counts of lewd acts upon a child and was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Estrada was arrested in May by South Gate police. Prosecutors said he had befriended his teenage victim earlier this year but she was not connected to the hospital where he worked.
He initially faced a dozen felonies and more than seven years in prison.
