No California tsunami threat after 7.2 earthquake in Philippines

The National Tsunami Warning Center said Monday evening that there was no tsunami threat to California or the West Coast after a magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit the Philippines.
The quake was reported in Mindanao, the southernmost island in the Philippines. The Associated Press, citing radio reports, said that at least four people were killed.
The center said the earthquake was recorded at a depth of about 20 miles around 5:13 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
The agency said its threat assessment was based on historical earthquake and tsunami data.
