One of the victims of a double slaying in Pasadena early Monday has been identified as the director of a local cooking business that has served as a spring board for other local bakeries.

On its Facebook page, the Chefs Center of California posted a message identifying Larry Bressler as one of two people who were stabbed to death outside an apartment complex about 6:20 a.m.

“It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you that Larry Bressler, Chefs Center’s Director of Operations, died tragically this morning,” the statement read. “Larry was an esteemed and well regarded member of our team and the community at large. He will be greatly missed.”

Bressler’s business rented out commercial kitchen space to culinary businesses that wanted to test out new recipes or that couldn’t afford large commercial equipment.

The business continued to operate Monday, as Bressler would have wanted, according to the statement.

Bressler and a woman he identified to police as his wife were stabbed in the 200 block of North Madison Avenue. The attacker’s identity was not immediately released, but he was described as being a relative, Pasadena police Lt. Tracey Ibarra said.

Bressler’s wife, whose identity has not been released, also died from her injuries after being rushed to the hospital.

The attacker was found a short distance away with his own injuries and blood on his clothes and remained in custody, Ibarra said.
