Long Beach police ask for help finding hit-and-run driver
Long Beach police are asking for the public’s help in finding a motorist involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a woman injured and in critical condition.
The incident occurred about 5:40 p.m. Friday when 43-year-old Sandra Davis was crossing South Street near Ackerfield Avenue in North Long Beach. Davis was walking in a south when a small, older model light tan or beige vehicle heading east struck her.
Witnesses described the car as a “Nissan Altima”-style sedan.
Investigators say witnesses reported seeing the vehicle brake momentarily, indicating that the driver was aware of the collision, but that the driver instead left without making an attempt to aid the victim or contact police, as required by state law.
Davis suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital where she remains in critical condition, authorities said.
