Former L.A. Times editor joins communications firm
Russ Stanton, the former editor of the Los Angeles Times who recently stepped down as vice president for content of Southern California Public Radio, has been hired by a communications firm.
Stanton was named a senior executive at G.F. Bunting + Co., a San Francisco firm founded by former Times reporter and editor Glenn Bunting, the company announced Sunday. Stanton previously served as editor in chief of the Times from 2008 to 2011.
Stanton joined The Times in 1997 as a reporter in the Orange County bureau, after serving as business editor for the Orange County Register. He later served as business editor and then as innovation editor at The Times before his promotion to editor.
At Southern California Public Radio, Stanton oversaw an expansion of the newsroom at 89.3 KPCC, which is based in Pasadena. He announced his departure from that post last month.
Stanton said in a statement that he had looked at “several opportunities” before taking the position with Bunting’s company.
Bunting said Stanton would “help guide the expansion of our practice in Southern California and beyond.”
