A Lake Forest man charged with sexually assaulting girls under the age of 10 is being sought on a $1-million warrant.

Jesus Gomez Montes, 34, has been charged with numerous felony counts related to the sexual assault of a child, and could face a maximum sentence of 130 years to life if convicted, according to a joint statement from the Orange County district attorney’s office and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Prosecutors said that Montes split his time from 2002 to 2005 between two homes in Lake Forest, living with families that included the young girls he is accused of assaulting.

Last month, one of the girls told a school counselor about a sexual assault that she said had happened a decade earlier. The school contacted the Sheriff’s Department, launching an investigation through which two other alleged victims were located.

Authorities described Montes as 5-foot-7 and weighing about 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Authorities said he might be driving a 2004 gold Nissan Murano — a small sport utility vehicle — with California license plate 6PWE354, and could be in Laguna Beach or Lake Forest or with relatives in Riverside County.

Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact Supervising Dist. Atty. Investigator Lou Gutierrez at (714) 347-8794 or leave a tip — which can be done anonymously — with Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIPS-OCCS.
