Uber driver charged with sexually assaulting female passenger
An Uber driver accused of sexually assaulting a woman while on duty was arrested in El Cajon on Tuesday, police said.
John Sanchez, 52, gave the woman a ride and assaulted her on Feb. 26, El Cajon police said.
The San Diego resident was booked in jail on a count of rape of a drugged person.
An Uber spokeswoman said Sanchez was suspended as a driver on Feb. 26 after police notified the ride-sharing company of the accusation. She said he had cleared a background check.
Detectives investigating the case alongside the San Diego District Attorney’s Office obtained warrants to search Sanchez’s home and 2012 Scion XB.
