Homicide detectives are investigating the death of an individual whose body was found “with signficant injuries” along a freeway off-ramp in Anaheim, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol and Anaheim Police Department received calls around midnight Friday about a body on the off-ramp of the northbound 57 Freeway at Katella Avenue, said Sgt. Bob Dunn of the Anaheim Police Department.

Authorities arrived after 12:20 a.m. and pronounced the individual dead at the scene.

“At this point, we are treating it as a suspicious death,” Dunn said.

Homicide detectives are handling the investigation into the death, while the Orange County coroner is performing an autopsy, Dunn said.

No details about the victim’s identity or specific injuries were released. But Dunn said the individual was hit “by at least one car.”

Police believe motorists on the freeway may have witnessed activity related to the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
