Brent Goldman captured the fun and chaos of an illuminated Santa Monica Pier in this photo from Nov. 17. Catching all the elements -- the blur of the spinning ride, the roller coaster cars and the lighted Ferris wheel -- at just the right moment was a challenge, he said, but he was up for it.
“My favorite part of the photo was capturing the emotions of the people on the spinning ride. I had to make sure I set my shutter speed appropriately so you could see their expressions, but still see the movement of the ride,” he said.
Goldman used a Nikon D800 and a 14-24mm wide-angle lens.
