Reader photo: The best kind of photobomb

This post has been corrected. See the note below for details.

Although this photo goes beyond the borders of California, it definitely has a SoCal feel to it: while attending an Angels spring training game in Arizona, photographer (and Angels fan) Richelle Lavin was taking this picture of her daughter, Averie, when Angels player Mike Trout decided to photobomb the 3-year-old’s photo.

Lavin and her family were in Arizona to watch her brother’s baseball tournament and the group went out to catch this Angels game as well.

“Mr. Trout was greeting fans close by,” wrote Lavin in an email, when Trout popped into the photo from behind. “Averie is quite shy and didn’t care to have her photo taken -- hence the strange angle.”

Wrote Lavin of the encounter: “The brothers are still mad that it wasn’t them.”

[For the Record, 4:30 p.m. PDT March 24: An earlier version of this post spelled the family’s last name as Lanvin. The last name is Lavin.]
