Reader Photo: Layers of landscape at Joshua Tree

Share

With a group of fellow photographers, Melissa Turner traveled to Joshua Tree National Park last month for an overnight camping trip, capturing the landscape from sunset to sunrise.

As the sun drooped, a gradient of color was cast on the mountain range -- a sight that Turner and her camera could not ignore. She shot the photo with a long zoom lens to compress the look of the mountains.

“I loved the silhouette and the tones that the setting sun offered in the scene,” she said.

Turner used a Canon 70D with a 55-250mm lens to make this image on April 18.
