Reader Photo: An ocean of light below Mt. Wilson
The sprawling Los Angeles Basin at night turns into a vast ocean of light.
Susan Colosimo and fellow photographer Candy Dougherty originally set out to photograph the moon from Red Box, a ranger station up Angeles Crest Highway in the Angeles National Forest. With an hour to wait for the moon rise, though, Dougherty suggested they go to nearby Mt. Wilson, where the friends were greeted by a “spectacular” view.
Colosimo set up her shot to include some nearby towers on Mt. Harvard.
“I liked the silhouette of the towers against that fabulous view,” Colosimo said.
Colosimo used a Nikon D7100 to make the image.
