Top baby names: Sophia, Jackson. ‘Hated’ name Madison tumbles

Sophia and Jackson top a new list of the most popular baby names of 2013, a sign, perhaps, that although we may be a celebrity-crazed society, we’re not that crazed.
There’s not a Blue Ivy or an Apple in the bunch.
The list comes courtesy of parenting website Baby Center, which culls its data from a survey of more than half a million parents. A more expansive and precise list of the top 2013 baby names will come from the Social Security Administration but won’t arrive until early 2014.
Rounding out the Top 10 after Sophia: Emma, Olivia, Isabella, Mia, Ava, Lily, Zoe, Emily and Chloe. (The full list goes 100 deep.)
Meanwhile, “J” names continue to be popular for boys.

Following behind Jackson is Aiden, which had held the top spot for eight solid years. Then comes Liam, Lucas, Noah, Mason, Jayden, Ethan, Jacob and Jack.
Baby Center says its list takes alternative spellings into consideration, such as Sofia and Jaxon.
And for those of you who hate, hate, hate the name Madison -- it is, after all, one of the most hated baby names -- there’s this: Madison has slipped out of the Top 10 list, falling to No. 12, according to Baby Center.
