Bodies found in Mississippi are missing Tennessee mom and daughter
Two bodies found in northeastern Mississippi were identified as a Tennessee woman and her daughter as authorities increased their search for the man believed to have abducted them and two other children.
Police continued to search the area around Guntown, Miss., for Adam Mayes, 35, who has probably altered his appearance and may be using aliases, officials said. He is wanted in connection with the disappearance of four members of the Bain family from their western Tennessee home on April 27.
The bodies found in a Mississippi home used by Mayes were identified as Jo Ann Bain, 31, and her daughter, Adrienne Bain, 14, the FBI said Monday night. The bodies were found last week and brought to Tennessee for autopsies and tests.
Federal officials have refused to say how the pair died.
Alexandria Bain, 12, and Kyliyah Bain, 8, two other daughters of Jo Ann Bain, are still missing and believed to be with Mayes, according to the FBI.
Though the search intensified in Mississippi, Mayes also has ties to Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida and could have fled there, according to authorities.
Mayes was last seen May 1 in Guntown. He is considered armed and dangerous, officials said.
