British court convicts ‘ginger extremist’ of plotting terrorist attacks
LONDON A British court on Tuesday convicted a man dubbed a “ginger extremist” of plotting a chemical attack and planning to kill Prince Charles to pave the way for ginger-haired Prince Harry to become king.
Mark Colborne, 37, a self-confessed admirer of Norwegian mass-murderer Anders Breivik, said he planned to carry out an attack “for the Aryan people.”
He was convicted of preparing terrorist acts on Tuesday, after a jury had failed to reach a verdict in May.
Prosecutors cited evidence from Colborne’s diary in which he said he planned to use a sniper rifle to kill Prince Charles.
He also acquired chemicals, dust masks, funnels, syringes and gloves that he planned to use in a cyanide attack, prosecutors said.
Colborne denied the terrorism charges and told the court his diary notes about his plans were “angry rants” that he wrote while skipping his medication for depression.
The court heard that Colborne felt he was “marginalized” as a white, ginger-haired man.
He wrote in his diary that he wanted to become a “military terrorist” and “strike at the hearts of the dark-haired, dark-eyed Caucasian race,” the BBC reported earlier.
