His beloved died of HIV. His beloved’s pine tree died of climate change

When his domestic partner died of HIV in 1995, John Kluge spread his ashes under a hundred foot tall pine tree in the Angeles National Forest. That tragedy is now compounded by another one: the tree was recently destroyed by fire, brought on by climate change.
