Readers React: Standing up to rapacious development doesn’t make you a NIMBY

To the editor: Patt Morrison’s interview with attorney Robert P. Silverstein highlights the slipshod fashion by which projects are approved. (“The stopper,” Opinion, Oct. 14 )
Here in North Hollywood, we are tired of having to travel to Burbank — even with its free parking — to do our shopping, leaving our sales taxes there.
We aren’t NIMBYs; we want the retail development certain parcels are zoned for. But developers and the city officials who approve neighborhood-destroying projects are simply WIGWAMs (Where It Goes Won’t Affect Me).
