To the editor: I drive a car. It can be a dangerous weapon. When you kill someone with a car, it is often called vehicular manslaughter. I have to insure my car and register it every year. I also have to take periodic tests to be sure that I am safe on the road.

From now on all gun owners should have to register their weapons every year. The cost should be $500. Per gun. They will have to carry liability insurance for each gun. They will have to take a test yearly to ensure that they are able to use the gun safely.

Their payments will go toward mitigating all the damage caused by gun users.
