Readers React: Doing right by older pets

Share

To the editor: Older dogs may need more medical care, but at the end of life, they are looking for a comfortable place to spend the rest of their days. They don’t need a hip replacement or chemotherapy just comfort and love. (Re “Teaching about old dogs,” Column, Aug. 26)

People may not realize that if they don’t own a dog or cat, they can still go to the animal shelters or rescue agencies and walk a dog or pet a cat. There are many worthwhile rescue agencies out there who would be grateful for any help.
