Emily Alpert Reyes is a former staff writer for the Los Angeles Times. She most recently covered public health and previously reported on Los Angeles city government and politics, as well as on the census and demographics, tracking how our lives are changing in Los Angeles, California and the country. Before joining The Times, she worked for the pioneering nonprofit news website voiceofsandiego.org, winning national awards for her reporting on education.
