Neufeld leads UPS to win

The UPS Store picked up another victory in Laguna Beach Little League AAA Division play March 17 by defeating Payoff, 8-5, at Riddle Field.

UPS, which received contributions from throughout its lineup in improving to 4-2, was paced by Noah Neufeld (three for three, RBI, two runs), Gehrig Mackey and Jack Gallo. The trio took turns on the mound, with Gallo drawing the start, Mackey relieving Gallo, and Neufeld closing the game.

First-year player Ray Ameen of UPS singled, Ryan Loughlin had a key, run-scoring hit, and Chris Hemsley twice reached base and in the field, made an outstanding defensive play. Andre Nunn continued to improve at the plate and in the field, and lead-off hitter Charley Tyus again reached base and score runs. Sam Burchi, Will Goodwin and Matt Carpino also contributed on offense and Burchi gave a strong performance on defense.
