Power back on for 13,000 customers in H.B. and Costa Mesa after hours-long outage
Power was restored by Sunday night for about 13,000 homes and businesses in Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa after a broken power pole left them in the dark for hours, officials said.
The power outages began at 10:52 p.m. Saturday as a result of a broken cross arm on a pole at the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Atlanta Avenue in Huntington Beach, said Robert Villegas, spokesman for Southern California Edison.
“That is an intersection where three different circuits come together,” he said. “Three circuits and a portion of a fourth one were affected.”
Electricity was restored to many homes and businesses by 4:30 a.m. Sunday, and the rest had power restored by 7:44 p.m. Sunday, Villegas said.
