Huntington Beach High was seeking Monday to climb into a tie for first place in the Sunset League girls’ basketball title chase but instead, Los Alamitos remained alone atop the league standings by turning back the challenge from the Oilers.

Huntington, which suffered through a tough shooting night, lost to the Griffins, 51-36.

Junior forward Frankie Wade-Sanchez scored 15 points and junior guard Kaylyn Nakaji 13 points for the Oilers who were only 11 for 66 from the floor.
