Clippers getting 20-1 odds to win NBA title, Lakers at 6,000-1

The Clippers are 54 games into their 82-game season with a record of 35-19.

They are in sixth place in the Western Conference, 8 1/2 games behind the first-place Golden State Warriors (42-9), but only 1 1/2 games behind the third-place Portland Trail Blazers (36-17).

The Clippers, who have never won an NBA championship or even had a Finals appearance, are listed at 20-1 odds to win the title at this point in the season, according to MyTopSportsBooks.com. The Lakers, who have won 16 NBA championships, are listed at 6,000-1 to win a title. The Warriors are at 7-2 odds, while the Cleveland Cavaliers are at 4-1.

The Clippers host the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday after having a week off for the All-Star break, Feb. 12-18.

They’ve won two games in a row, beating the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets without superstar power forward Blake Griffin. He will be sidelined at least two more weeks after having surgery Feb. 9 to remove a staph infection from his right elbow.
