Zack Greinke, Juan Uribe lead Dodgers to 3-2 victory over Colorado

Go to Colorado and you expect runs by the tons. Humidor or not, the runs still pile up in the Mile High City.

Just not always, and particularly when Zack Greinke happens to be on the mound.

Greinke has been remarkably consistent this season, and he was back at it Thursday, pitching the Dodgers to a 3-2 victory over the Rockies at Coors Field that pushed them back atop the National League West by a half-game.

Juan Uribe’s RBI single in the ninth -- one of his three hits -- made Greinke and the Dodgers a winner.

Greinke had a poor outing in Kansas City on June 23, but otherwise has allowed more than three runs only twice in his other 17 starts.

He did it again in Denver, holding the Rockies to two runs and nine hits in his eight innings, striking out eight and walking two.

Greinke pushed his record to 11-4, which ties him with Detroit’s Rick Porcello (11-4), New York’s Masahiro Tanaka (11-3) and St. Louis’ Adam Wainwright (11-4) for the most victories in the majors.

This is only the second time in Greinke’s 11-year career he’s put up double-digit wins before the All-Star break, the other in 2009 when he was the American League Cy Young winner.

And Greinke also pushed the team’s starting pitchers’ streak of allowing two or fewer runs to 37 consecutive games, most in the majors since 1900.

The Dodgers gave him a one-run lead in the third against Colorado’s Franklin Morales after Dee Gordon put down a perfect bunt single. Gordon took second on a Yasiel Puig groundout before Morales walked Hanley Ramirez, who was back in the lineup for the first time since straining his left calf Saturday.

Adrian Gonzalez followed with a base hit to center score Gordon and the Dodgers had a 1-0 lead.

They added one more in the fourth after Uribe doubled with one out. Uribe took third on a passed ball by catcher Wilin Rosario and scored on a sacrifice fly by A.J. Ellis.

The Rockies got one back after D.J. LeMahieu singled with two outs in the fifth and took second when Puig bobbled the ball for an error. Josh Rutledge pinch hit for Morales and delivered a run-scoring double.

Otherwise, Greinke seemed to be cruising. He goes to whichever of his pitches he feels is working particularly well that start and Thursday it was apparently a good fastball full of movement.

Still, he may have gone one inning too long, giving up a leadoff single to Charlie Blackmon in the eighth and a one-out triple to Justin Morneau that tied it. Greinke, however, remained in the game and got Troy Tulowitzki to fly to shallow left and Nolan Arenado on a strikeout.

LaTroy Hawkins, Colorado’s closer, took over in the ninth but immediately walked Kemp. He took second on a Scott Van Slyke groundout and scored on the Uribe single.

Kenley Jansen pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his 26th save, getting the final out when pinch-hitter Ryan Wheeler flied out to Puig in right at the warning.
