Reporting from Pittsburgh — Hanley Ramirezand Yasiel Puig won’t be in the lineup Monday for the Dodgers’ series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.
Ramirez was struck on his left hand the previous night by a 98-mph fastball delivered by St. Louis Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal. Puig was hit on his left hand on Saturday by Cardinals starter Joe Kelly.
Ramirez will not be available to pinch0hit, but Puig might be, Manager Don Mattingly said.
Ramirez and Puig underwent fluoroscope X-ray exams in St. Louis that didn’t show any broken bones in their hands.
Additional X-ray exams taken Monday in Pittsburgh were negative for Ramirez and Puig.
“We don’t feel like there’s going to be anything on this X-ray,” Mattingly said.
Ramirez will be replaced at shortstop by Justin Turner, and Puig in right field by Matt Kemp.
