The news the baseball world has been waiting for finally became official this afternoon as the Dodgers have sent Yasiel Puig to the minor leagues.

Puig, who became the center of attention on Tuesday after he didn’t travel with the Dodgers to Denver for their series against the Rockies, will head to the minor leagues, although the team did not specify which of the affiliates he will be joining.

Right-handed pitchers Ross Stripling and Josh Fields, who was acquired in a trade with the Astros yesterday, are also being sent to the minors.

The roster moves became necessary after the Dodgers acquired outfield Josh Reddick from Oakland and pitcher Jesse Chavez from Toronto in trades.

The Dodgers also announced that they placed pitcher Rich Hill, who also came over from Oakland, on the 15-day disabled list.
