In the 2 1/2 weeks since Jimmy Rollins last played shortstop, much has changed. Specifically, as Rollins nursed a hand injury, Corey Seager has thrust himself into the Dodgers’ infield conversation.

On Wednesday, though, his first game back in the field, Rollins was penciled in at shortstop. Seager played third.

Before the game Rollins said his hand was “good enough to play,” but he did not elaborate.

Rollins said his understanding was that he remained the everyday shortstop.

“As long as my hand’s good, I’ll probably be out there,” he said. “So I’ll probably go from that.”

Seager, Rollins said, is “definitely going to play different positions. And obviously if we can go ahead and get some wins and win a division, he’ll be on the playoff roster.”

Manager Don Mattingly said he sees Seager as a shortstop in the long term, but Seager could play elsewhere for now. Seager will still see time even after third baseman Justin Turner returns from a knee injury, Mattingly said Wednesday, because Turner will be unable to play every day.

“We’ll just see how it goes. Obviously he’s a guy that’s swinging the bat as good as anybody,” Mattingly said of Seager.

Anther Crawford injury

In this season alone, outfielder Carl Crawford has had a “bad tear” to his oblique muscle that sidelined him for 76 games, a hamstring injury suffered earlier in September and now one more: left shoulder bursitis that held him from Wednesday’s lineup.

He struck out as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning.

Crawford is one of a litany of recent Dodgers with injuries. Most notably, Turner (knee) and utility man Enrique Hernandez (hamstring), who are close to returning, and outfielder Yasiel Puig (hamstring) and second baseman and outfielder Jose Peraza (hamstring).

“We were talking the other day that, you’re sitting there, you got all these guys. It seemed like I didn’t have anybody,” Mattingly said.
