Dodgers announce 2013 minor league coaching assignments

Get out your minor league scorecards.

The Dodgers announced coaching assignments for their seven minor league teams Monday. In truth, there was no singularly significant assignment, but the usual shuffle of coaches.

Ex-Dodger Jody Reed, who served last season as the organization’s infielder coordinator, is going back to managing and will lead double-A Chattanooga. He has previously managed the Dodgers’ rookie-level Arizona League Dodgers and Gulf Coast League Yankees, winning league manager of the year at both stops.

Pat Listach takes over as the new field coordinator, after having spent the last two seasons with the Cubs as their third base and bench coach. He has 13 years of coaching experience after spending six seasons playing in the majors.

Otherwise, the bulk of last year’s coaching staffs will return in 2013.

Lorenzo Bundy returns for a fourth season as manager of triple-A Albuquerque; he’ll have Glenn Dishman as his pitching coach and Franklin Stubbs as the hitting coach.

Joining Reed in Chattanooga will be coaches Orv Franchuk (hitting) and Hector Berrios (pitching). Carlos Subero moves from managing Chattanooga to Class-A Rancho Cucamonga. With Subero will be Johnny Washington (hitting) and Matt Herges (pitching).

Razor Shines moves up from hitting coach at Class-A Great Lakes to its manager. Bill Simas makes the jump from pitching coach for Rookie League Ogden to Great Lakes, while Bill Eylward becomes the hitting coach.

Damon Berryhill is back for a fifth season as manager of Ogden. Esteban Lopez will serve as his pitching coach.

Other returning assignments include Bruce Hines (field coordinator), Gene Clines, Charlie Hough and Ramon Martinez (senior advisors), and Rafael Chaves (pitching coordinator), Eric Owens (hitting coordinator), Damon Mashore (outfield/baserunning) and Travis Barbary (catching coordinator).

John Shoemaker, who managed last season at Great Lakes, returns as the Camelback Ranch coordinator of instruction. Todd Takayoshi and Rick Knapp join the organization as assistant hitting and pitching coordinator, respectively.

For the Dodgers rookie Dominican League team, ex-Dodger World Series hero Alejandro Pena will be the pitching coach for Manager Pedro Mega.
