Dodgers coach Tim Wallach to interview for Mariners’ managerial job

Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach is having a busy off-season.

Wallach is scheduled to interview Thursday with the Seattle Mariners for their managerial vacancy, according to a person who isn’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke only on condition of anonymity.

The Mariners job became open when Eric Wedge told the club he would not return next season.

The interview will be Wallach’s second in as many weeks; he interviewed with the Detroit Tigers last week. The Tigers are looking to replace Jim Leyland, who resigned.

Last winter, Wallach was a candidate to manage the Boston Red Sox, who instead hired John Farrell.

Wallach, 56, managed the Dodgers’ triple-A affiliate for two years before joining Don Mattingly’s coaching staff. In 2009, Wallach was named the Pacific Coast League’s top managerial prospect by Baseball America.
