U.S. women defend their gold medal in team gymnastics

It’s over. The U.S. defended its gold medal and won by a stunning 8.2 points.

Chants of “USA, USA, USA!” rang out after Aly Raisman’s powerful tumbling routine on the floor.

Raisman’s effort wowed the crowd, as did Laurie Hernandez, whose floor routine typically creates massive energy in the arena. Hernandez (14.833) and Raisman (15.366) set the stage for the closer, Simone Biles.

Biles earned a standing ovation after her standout routine (15.800).

Russia took the silver and China the bronze.
