Reigning WBC super-bantamweight international champion Manny Pacquiao won the IBF world title when he defeated Lehlohonolo Ledwaba with a technical knockout in the sixth round on June 23, 2001, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It was the second weight division in which he won a world championship after reigning for nearly a year as the WBC world flyweight champion.
