Update: The Ducks will honor former goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere, now with the Avalanche, with a video tribute in the first broadcast timeout in the opening period. There could be a development in the Ducks’ goal, as backup Dan Ellis played well in relief in the loss Thursday to the Canucks. Coach Bruce Boudreau spoke afterward about wanting to get Ellis more work. That, coupled with Jonas Hiller’s recent run, could lead to a change. Meanwhile, the Ducks assigned wing Kyle Palmieri to their minor league affiliate in Syracuse. He played only 11 minutes against the Canucks and was a minus-one.
