Hope Solo, the goalie for the U.S. women’s soccer team, says that she and her Olympic teammates were drunk for their “Today” show interview with Meredith Vieira after winning the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics.

Solo made the comments in the latest ESPN the Magazine.

“When we were done partying, we got out of our nice dresses, got back into our stadium coats and, at 7 a.m., with no sleep, went on the ‘Today’ show drunk,” she says.

Watching the video, which you can see above, it doesn’t appear that the team is too tipsy. Then again, I was distracted by seeing Solo with blond hair instead of the dark hair she had in her”Dancing With the Stars”days.

Oh, and that nose ring? Not a good look.

Why you would want to announce your whole team was drunk during a 4-year-old interview is a mystery to ponder. But it sure will make watching the interview in London a lot of fun if the women’s team wins gold again.
