Galaxy tonight

AT CHIVAS USA

When: 7:30.

Where: Home Depot Center.

On the air: TV: ESPN 2, ESPN Deportes; Radio: 1150, 1330.

Records: Galaxy 3-5-2, Chivas USA 3-6-1.

Record vs. Chivas USA: First meeting.

Update: They call this matchup of Home Depot Center roommates the SuperClasico, but there’s likely to be nothing either super or classic about a game between two losing teams languishing near the bottom of the Western Conference standings. Neither team has won in its last four matches while Chivas has a league-low six goals in 10 games and the Galaxy has scored just once this month. The Galaxy player who scored that goal, David Beckham, isn’t likely to play Saturday after traveling to Athens this week to take part in a ceremony marking the start of the 70-day torch relay that will bring the Olympic flame from Greece to London for this summer’s Games. With the Galaxy playing three matches in eight days for the second time this month, it’s likely Beckham will stay on the bench. That could spoil the send-offs of Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane, who figure to miss the next few weeks, with Donovan likely to be called up to the U.S. national team on Sunday and Keane leaving to captain Ireland in the European Championship. Chivas, which hasn’t beaten the Galaxy since September 2007, expects to have new acquisitions Juan Agudelo and Danny Califf available. Agudelo, who comes over in a trade with the New York Red Bulls, will be counted on to wake up an offense that has been dormant much of the last two seasons.
