Rolando McClain may not be a Raider much longer
Rolando McClain’s days with the Oakland Raiders appear to be numbered. And that number could very well be zero.
The linebacker has been informed that he will be released Thursday, according to an ESPN report that cites an unnamed source.
McClain is said to have announced the news on his Facebook page Wednesday, but his post appears to have been removed.
“Officially no longer an Oakland Raider!!” the Facebook post said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The paper said the eighth overall pick from 2010 added, “Well technically I am. But I’m mentally done. Just waiting on my papers” and “I’d like to be anywhere besides here.”
The only official word from the Raiders is that McClain was held out of practice Wednesday for “team-related issues.” Coach Dennis Allen would not elaborate.
McClain had 99 tackles last season, the second most on the team. Through 11 games this year, he has 60, which ranks fourth most on the squad.
