The Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens and quarterback Joe Flacco have reportedly agreed to terms on a six-year contract worth more than $120 million.

But is the fifth-year quarterback worth more than the Saints’ Drew Brees, the NFL’s highest-paid player at $20 million a season? Or the Patriots’ Tom Brady? Or the Packers’ Aaron Rodgers or the Broncos’ Peyton Manning?

They are all Super Bowl winners, and last season Flacco, 28 and entering his prime, joined 49ers legend Joe Montana atop the playoff record book by throwing 11 touchdowns without having a pass intercepted. Flacco is the only quarterback in NFL history to win a playoff game in each of the five seasons to start his career and he holds the record for most postseason road victories for a quarterback with six. He’s also tied with Brady for most playoff victories in his first five seasons at nine.

Not too shabby once he gets to the playoffs, although his 63 total victories in the last five seasons is the best during that span, and he hasn’t missed a start in five seasons, which is remarkable in pro football.

Statistically, though, his regular-season numbers pale in comparison to the top passers in the league, in particular his career 60.2% completion rate and his 102 touchdown passes vs. 56 passes intercepted. Plus, he’s never passed for 4,000 yards in a season or thrown for more than 25 touchdowns. He’s never been voted into the Pro Bowl.

Then again, the Ravens have lived off their defense and ball-control offense, featuring versatile running back Ray Rice. Is Flacco the right quarterback for the job? Is he worth more than $20 million a season?

Take the poll and see what others think.
