Lakers’ Bynum not expected to be disciplined further for Tuesday’s ejection

The NBA is not expected to further discipline Lakers center Andrew Bynum for his ejection from Tuesday’s game against Houston, according to a league official.

Bynum was ejected with 1:10 left in the third quarter after picking up his second technical foul. He high-fived teammates and a handful of fans in court-side seats before being turned toward the locker room by a team security official.

Instead of walking around the court, Bynum walked across it to get to the locker room.

He picked up the second technical while awaiting a free-throw attempt from Houston center Marcus Camby. He was engaging in a dialogue with referee Monty McCutcheon, who called the technical foul.

Bynum declined to talk to reporters after the game, which ended in a 107-104 Rockets victory.

“I’ll answer all questions [Wednesday],” he said while pulling a roller bag to the team bus and staring straight ahead.

Bynum had 16 points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes. He picked up his first technical foul after loudly disputing a non-call with 7:34 left in the first quarter.

The Lakers led the Rockets, 97-88, with 5:01 to play but Houston went on a 12-0 run and never trailed again.

“I was irritated,” Lakers Coach Mike Brown said after the loss. “We need [Bynum] on the floor. Nobody can put themselves in jeopardy to get themselves removed from the ball game.”

The Lakers play at Dallas on Wednesday, completing a quick two-game trip before returning home to play Portland on Friday.
