Dwight Howard to debut All-Star footwear collection

Share

Dwight Howard is one of the biggest names representing the Adidas basketball brand. At the 62nd All-Star Game in Houston, Howard will debut a special NBA All-Star edition of the “D Howard Light.”

The signature shoe features a design based on speed, style and Houston’s “history of aviation,” according to a release sent out on behalf of Adidas. The design was also reportedly inspired by the atmosphere of NBA All-Star Weekend.

Howard and the Lakers (19-25) are trying to work their way back into the playoff hunt after solid wins over the Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Despite playing with a shoulder injury and still recovering from offseason back surgery, Howard is averaging 16.5 points, 12 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.

The D Howard Light NBA All-Star edition is his “lightest signature shoe to date.... It features a reflective tongue made of chrome material inspired by the backside of a compact disc to pay homage to his passion for music.”

Howard has recently had the song “Diamonds” by Rihanna playing regularly in the locker room before and after games, but his tastes range from modern and “old-school R&B;” to Sade and Ray LaMontagne.

His special-edition “footwear collection” rolls out Friday.
