Update: This is the only regular-season game between these interconference teams. They played to a 2-2 tie in their one match last year, and the Galaxy has not lost to Toronto FC in their last eight meetings (three wins, five ties). The Galaxy, having already clinched a playoff spot in the Western Conference, is coming off a 4-0 win over the New York Red Bulls last weekend, extending the Galaxy’s undefeated streak to nine games. Toronto FC is battling for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The top five teams in each conference reach the postseason, and Toronto FC is currently sixth, just one point behind New York.
