Update: The Galaxy, aiming for its fifth victory in a row, will be without Landon Donovan (U.S.) and goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts (Jamaica), both playing for their national teams in the Gold Cup. Certainly, the Galaxy has been used to having its marquee players shuttling in and out of the lineup, including the two Donovans this season. Most recently, it was icon David Beckham back in Manchester last week for former teammate Gary Neville’s testimonial and a royal dinner in London with the likes of Queen Elizabeth II, President Obama, Tom Hanks and “Harry Potter” creator J.K. Rowling. D.C. United is coming off a 3-2 victory at Portland on Sunday and could have Charlie Davies back in the lineup. Davies sat out Sunday’s game because of an injured hamstring. D.C. United Coach Ben Olsen played for Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena for one season at the University of Virginia and later for a season with D.C. United.
