Jockey Rafael Bejarano will be sidelined four to six weeks
Jockey Rafael Bejarano, injured in a spill at Santa Anita on Saturday, is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks, his agent, Joe Ferrer, said Monday.
Bejarano has been recuperating at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena after suffering a broken collarbone and broken rib. His horse, Gameboy Luke, broke down in a 6½-furlong turf race, sending him to the turf. It is believed he was struck by another horse in the race.
Ferrer said he expects Bejarano to be released on Wednesday.
Bejarano has won 18 riding titles in Southern California racing.
